Am I Drinking Enough Water & How Can I Tell?
Quite simply: Check your urine!
In all my research, the only consistent measure of dehydration I have seen is to check the color of your urine!
Luckily this is something we can all do fairly easily.
Maybe it's not the most elegant of solutions, but it does work and gives you a pretty good indication quickly, without too much bother and at no cost!
Adults usually expel approximately 6 or more cups of water per day via urination. How many times a day you urinate can be dependent on other factors.
Ideally, when you are sufficiently hydrated your urine should be pale yellow, straw color or virtually colorless.
Urine color can be affected by vitamins, anti-biotics or strong colored foods. Therefore, you will need to factor those in for yourself.
As an added danger to us all, as we get older, we become less able to detect dehydration.
This means we may be living in a constant state of not enough water for our brain and body. Constantly subjecting our brains to an unnecessary excess of the stress hormone cortisol.
Do yourself a favor: Consume more water and check your urine!
Here are some ideas to help you get your daily water quota.
