Best Nuts For Brain Food Diet

Don’t Go Nuts - Eat Them!

We’ve all heard nuts are good for us - well unless you are allergic to them that is. But that aside, I thought it worthy of a bit of research to increase my knowledge of the area of total brain health.

What I discovered was quite amazing.

Walnuts seem to be the brain’s best nut.

Walnuts have the highest amount of natural plant omega-3. Walnuts contain both omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins E and B6. So they have quite a bit going for them.

Omega-3 fatty acids can boost your mood and help restructure the parts of your brain that relate to your emotions giving you an overall more positive outlook on life. Now that can’t be bad!

Studies have shown that some people suffering from memory loss or Alzheimer’s disease have a dietary deficiency of omega-3 oils which is what has made people look into sources of these amazing fatty acids.

Walnuts ironically resemble your brain in so many ways! But let’s not think about that too much, especially whilst we eat them! Nature has a sense of humor after all.

How many walnuts do I need to eat?

An average serving of only 10 walnuts, which is about 1.5oz or for my European friends about 42g, will get you on track.

That’s not too hard to do.

Why not make up some snack packs for the family, or to take to work?

I find if it is already measured out and put in front of me, I will eat it. If I have to go to the cupboard, I might just make a beeline for the cookie jar instead.

If you are still not convinced about walnuts, they have benefits for your heart too.

The FDA formally recognizes that walnuts can aid in reducing cholesterol levels and are widely considered to have other beneficial properties that improve heart health.

If you won’t eat walnuts for your brain, eat them for your heart!
I challenge you - Don’t go NUTS - EAT ‘em!
