Goals & A Sense Of Purpose
Goals are easy to talk about, but often harder to define.
REASONS create POWER
They say reasons create power. The exact power the brain loves to run on.
Sounds a bit hokey, doesn't it. There is a bit of science to it really! Various chemicals in the brain are stimulated when we set and achieve goals, most notably dopamine - the feel good chemical or neurotransmitter.
The downside occurs if we set unrealistic goals we can create stress and anxiety, which we know have a negative effect on brain health and function.
Give yourself real brain power by defining what you would like to achieve. Our brains enjoy working towards a goal.
It doesn't have to be hard or complicated. How about working on the 8 Habits for starters. Set yourself a daily task from each of the first 7 Habits. Those tasks can then be modified into a goal for the 8th Habit.
Goals and purpose are a powerful brain stimulant
