What Is Meditation?
Meditation is a general term that has many different applications.
Essentially, meditation is an activity where the participant quietens the mind and opens up to the power and mystery of the universe.
The objective is to attempt to reach a higher state of enlightenment.
Meditation is often associated with religion. However, you do not need to be religious to apply the techniques and enjoy the many benefits.
Major religions from both eastern and western philosophies such as Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism and Taoism practice meditation. There are some similarities and some differences in their approaches.
They all seem to use the same basic Meditation Steps to reach the state of enlightenment.
